WWW - The Number One Word...

English has always excelled at borrowing words from other languages and making them her own. This can be the only possible explanation, aside from simple sadism, for the drastic variety in spelling and pronunciation that is found in English.

Calculations vary, but it is generally accepted that twenty to thirty percent of the English language is taken from the French. Even many of our Latin words were taken from Latin through the French.

But the number one French word in English? By which I mean of course – the first French word in English?
